This is serious because a truck that moves on its own can cause a crash or injure someone nearby; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but set the parking brake every time you park until the truck is inspected.

What's wrong, in plain English

The transmission case in some of these trucks may have been made incorrectly. Because of that, the small locking part inside that holds the truck still when you shift into park may not be secured the way it should be. If it is not held properly, the truck can move on its own even though it is in park. Ford dealers will inspect the transmission case and replace the whole transmission if it is the wrong one, at no cost.

Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty and F-450 Super Duty vehicles. An incorrect transmission case casting may cause the park pawl assembly to not be secured, possibly resulting in unintended vehicle movement.
Safety risk: Unintended vehicle movement can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners and dealers will inspect the transmission case, replacing the transmission as necessary, free of charge. The recall began December 7, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S36.
