An engine that stalls in traffic raises the risk of a crash, so the car is drivable but you should get the free fix promptly.

What's wrong, in plain English

Tiny particles in the gasoline can stick to parts inside the fuel pump, the part that pushes fuel from the tank to the engine. Over time the pump can weaken and stop delivering enough fuel, which can make the engine quit while you are driving. Dealers will load updated engine computer software and, if the pump is already weak, put in a new fuel pump at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included.
2. Call an Acura or Honda dealer, or customer service at 1-888-234-2138, and mention recall P3W (Acura) or N3X (Honda).
3. Have the software update and, if needed, the fuel pump replacement done — the repair is free.

Summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Acura MDX, 2015-2019 Acura TLX and 2015-2017 Honda Accord vehicles, equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine. Particulates in fuel may adhere to the internal components of the fuel pump, reducing its performance.
Safety risk
Reduced fuel pump performance can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the fuel injection engine control unit (FI-ECU) software and, if necessary, replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began March 25, 2019. Owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Acura's recall number for this recall is P3W. Honda's recall number for this recall is N3X.
