Acura MDX touchscreen may go blank, hiding backup camera
medium How serious is it? About this label
Backing up without a camera view makes it much easier to hit a child, a pet, or an object you cannot see, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
The large touchscreen in the middle of your 2025 MDX's dashboard can suddenly go blank. When it does, the picture from the backup camera no longer appears when you shift into reverse, so you cannot see what is behind the vehicle on the screen. Federal rules require that rear view image to show every time you back up. Honda has traced it to the display unit and will swap in a new one.
What you should do
2. Call your Acura dealer and book the free replacement of the center display unit; notification letters went out March 3, 2025.
3. Until it is fixed, turn and look behind you and use your mirrors every time you reverse. Questions: Honda at 1-888-234-2138, recall RKZ.
