Weak or failing front brakes on a scooter can easily cause a crash, so get this repaired right away and check your brake feel and fluid level before each ride until it is done.

What's wrong, in plain English

Repeatedly turning the handlebars all the way to the left can, over time, crack the front brake hose on these BMW scooters. A cracked hose leaks brake fluid, and with less fluid the front brake becomes weaker, so the scooter may not stop the way you expect. Dealers replace the hose and add a protective sleeve over the connection fitting at no cost. Scooters already repaired under an earlier recall are covered again.

What you should do

1. Check your scooter's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if it is covered, including if it was fixed under the older 15V-738 recall.
2. Contact a BMW Motorrad dealer, or BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, to schedule the hose replacement.
3. Have the new hose and protective sleeve installed free of charge before riding regularly again.

Summary
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2013-2018 BMW C600 Sport and C650 Sport and 2013-2019 C650 GT scooters. Repeated turning of the handlebars to the left most position may cause the front brake hose to crack and leak over time.
Safety risk
A brake fluid leak can reduce braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake hose, adding an additional protective sleeve that will cover the hose connection fitting, free of charge. The recall began August 6, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Note: This recall includes scooters previously recalled under 15V-738.
