Acura MDX: water in tailgate lights can knock out taillights
medium How serious is it? About this label
Moderate — dead taillights make you hard to see and increase crash risk, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
Water can get inside the lights mounted on the tailgate of these Acura MDX models. The moisture can knock out those tailgate lights and the main taillights along with them. With your taillights out, drivers behind you have a much harder time seeing your vehicle, especially at night or in bad weather, and that raises the chance someone runs into you. The dealer will rework or replace the tailgate lights.
What you should do
2. Call your Acura dealer or Acura customer service at 1-888-234-2138 to set up the repair.
3. The dealer will modify the tailgate lights with new gaskets and wiring, or replace both lights, free of charge.
