What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2020 Elantras, the fasteners holding a joint in the front suspension were not tightened enough. That joint connects the lower suspension arm to the front wheel assembly, so it is what keeps the wheel located and steering properly. If the fasteners are loose, the joint can pull apart. Should that happen while you are driving, you can lose control of the car and crash. Dealers will inspect the fasteners and tighten them if needed.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020 Elantra vehicles. The lower control arm ball joint fasteners may have been insufficiently tightened allowing the ball joint to detach from the lower control arm.
Safety risk
A detached ball joint can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
