What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2020 BMW X3 M40i and X4 M40i vehicles have a problem inside the steering unit. The teeth on a gear that turns your steering wheel motion into wheel movement can break when they're under load. If those teeth break, you would lose the ability to steer the vehicle. BMW dealers will replace the whole steering unit at no cost to you. BMW already sent notification letters to owners, and the recall began October 9, 2019.
