Hyundai Palisade side curtain airbags may not inflate properly
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious in a side crash because an airbag may not work as intended, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
The bolts that hold the side curtain airbags in place can damage the airbag as it inflates. These are the airbags that drop down along the side windows to protect people's heads in a side impact. If one is torn or damaged while deploying, it may not fill the way it should and may not protect you in a crash. Dealers will install a protective cover over the mounting bolts, free of charge, so the bolts cannot damage the airbag.
What you should do
2. Contact your Hyundai dealer or call 1-855-371-9460 to schedule the work.
3. Have the protective covers installed on the airbag mounting bolts — the repair is free.
