Hyundai Palisade third-row curtain airbags may deploy improperly

NHTSA campaign 26V034000 · Reported 2026-01-23 · Hyundai Motor America

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderate — the airbag problem only matters in a crash, raising the risk of injury to third-row passengers; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The side curtain airbags that protect people in the third row may not inflate the way they should in a crash. These airbags are meant to help keep passengers from being thrown out of the vehicle through a side window, and testing showed these vehicles do not meet the federal rule for that protection. Hyundai will fix it by putting a protective film on the rear window and taking out padding where needed. The free repair is being rolled out in stages through the end of 2026.

What you should do

2. Watch for your final remedy letter, mailed in phases from June 2026 through December 2026, then book the repair with a Hyundai dealer.
3. Questions can go to Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460; the repair is free.
