Very serious, because an overheating part can lead to a fire; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving or to park outside, but you should get this repaired right away.

What's wrong, in plain English

Under the back seat of your Ioniq there is an electrical part that switches the battery power on and off. In these cars it can get too hot. If it overheats, it can start a fire. This is a do-over of an earlier recall (18V-704) — even if your car was already repaired under that one, it still needs the new fix. The dealer will check the part and replace it if necessary.

Call your Hyundai dealer and schedule the repair, even if you already had the 2018 recall done — the old fix does not count. 3. Component: HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM: INVERTER
Summary: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ioniq HEV and Ionic PHV vehicles previously recalled under recall number 18V-704. The Power Relay Assembly (PRA) located underneath the rear seat may overheat.
Safety risk: An overheated PRA increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the main relay or PRA, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 23, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 232. This recall replaces NHTSA recall number 18V-704. Vehicles already repaired under the previous recall will need to have the new remedy completed.
