Losing your wipers in bad weather makes a crash more likely, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, so it is reasonable to keep driving while you schedule the free repair.

What's wrong, in plain English

On certain 2020-2021 Hyundai Palisade vehicles, the motor that drives the windshield wipers can quit working. When that happens, the wipers stop moving. In rain, snow, or road spray, you would have no way to clear the windshield, and you could lose much of your view of the road. The fix is a new driver-side wiper arm, which the dealer installs for you.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Palisade is included in campaign 22V627000 (Hyundai calls it 233).
2. Contact your Hyundai dealer, or Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460, to make an appointment.
3. The dealer will replace the driver-side windshield wiper arm at no charge.
