Nissan Versa and Kicks may lose power steering assist
high How serious is it? About this label
A sudden jump in steering effort can catch you off guard and lead to a crash, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving while they wait for the free repair.
What's wrong, in plain English
On certain 2021 Nissan Versa and Kicks vehicles, an electrical connection inside the power steering sensor can cut out now and then. That sensor tells the car how hard you are turning the wheel, and if the connection drops, the power assist shuts off. The steering still works, but the wheel suddenly becomes much harder to turn, especially at low speeds like parking or pulling out of a driveway.
