Ford Super Duty Trucks Front Wheels Can Detach

NHTSA campaign 23V758000 · Reported 2023-11-09 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

Very serious — a front wheel can come off and cause a crash, and Ford tells owners not to drive the truck until the repair has been performed.

⚠ NHTSA advises not driving this vehicle until it is repaired. See all such recalls.

What's wrong, in plain English

The nuts that hold the front wheel hub extender — the spacer the front wheel bolts onto — may not have been tightened enough. If they work loose, the wheel and the extender can come off the truck while you are driving. That can make you lose control, and a loose wheel in the road is dangerous for other drivers too. Ford says do not drive these trucks until a dealer has checked them.

What you should do

1. Stop driving the truck and confirm your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls under campaign 23V758000.
2. Call your Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 23S59) and arrange to get the truck in without driving it.
3. The dealer will check the hub extender nuts and replace the extender, nuts, and hub if they are loose — free of charge.
