Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee defroster may stop working

NHTSA campaign 24V111000 · Reported 2024-02-15 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

medium How serious is it? About this label

An inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system may decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

A software mistake in one of the vehicle's computers can stop the windshield defroster and defogger from working. That is the system that clears fog and ice off the inside and outside of your windshield. If it quits on a cold or damp day, you may not be able to see clearly out the front. The vehicles also do not meet the federal safety rule for defrosters. Dealers will update the software free.
