Jeep Grand Cherokee second-row seat belt buckle bolt loose

NHTSA campaign 24V434000 · Reported 2024-06-13 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious for anyone riding in the second row, since the belt may not hold them in a crash; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The buckle you click a seat belt into, for the second-row seats, is held to the vehicle by a bolt. On these Grand Cherokees, that bolt may not have been tightened enough at the factory. A buckle that is not firmly anchored may not hold a passenger in place during a crash, so someone belted into that seat could be hurt. A dealer will check the bolt and tighten it if it is loose.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is affected. 2. Contact a Jeep dealer, or FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall 70B), for the inspection. 3. The bolt is inspected and tightened free of charge.
