Serious — the vehicle drives normally and the danger only shows up in a crash, but a front passenger is not fully protected until the airbag is replaced.

What's wrong, in plain English

The fabric of the front passenger airbag may have been damaged while it was being shipped between suppliers. A damaged airbag may not fill with air properly in a crash, so someone riding in the front passenger seat could be hurt worse than they otherwise would be. None of these 2025 X3 xDrive30i and X3 M50i vehicles had been sold yet, so BMW did not mail owner notification letters. Dealers replace the airbag free of charge.

3. Have the front passenger airbag replaced at no cost.
