What's wrong, in plain English

Mazda is recalling certain 2024 CX-90 and 2025 CX-70 SUVs. The software in the computers that run the engine and the transmission may have a fault. When that happens, warning lights come on the dashboard and the vehicle can lose drive power, meaning it may stop pulling while you are driving. Losing power in traffic makes a crash more likely. Dealers will load corrected software into both computers at no cost.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your vehicle is on the list. 2. Call a Mazda dealer or Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 Option 6 (recall 7024J) for an appointment. 3. Have the dealer reprogram the software — the repair is free.

Summary
Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2024 CX-90 and 2025 CX-70 vehicles. The powertrain control module (PCM) and engine control modules (ECM) software may cause malfunction indicator lights to illuminate and a loss of drive power.
Safety risk
Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the PCM and ECM software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 19, 2024. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 Option 6. Mazda's number for this recall is 7024J.
