What's wrong, in plain English

A bracket on the rear suspension may have been welded on badly at the factory, and it can break away from the rear axle carrier. If that happens, the back of the car can suddenly stop handling normally and you could lose control. Mercedes says do not drive the car until it is fixed. The dealer will replace the whole rear axle carrier at no charge. Letters went out to owners in January 2025.

What you should do

1. Stop driving the car and confirm your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
2. Call a Mercedes-Benz dealer or MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 (recall 2024120015) and tell them you were advised not to drive — ask about towing.
3. Have the dealer replace the rear axle carrier, free of charge.

Summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2025 E 350, E 350 4MATIC, E 450 4MATIC, and E450 4MATIC station wagon vehicles. The camber strut bracket may have been improperly welded onto the rear axle carrier, possibly resulting in separation of the bracket from the rear axle carrier.
Safety risk
Rear axle carrier failure can cause a sudden loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been performed. Dealers will replace the rear axle carrier, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 22, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2024120015.
