Ford Explorer front brake caliper bolts may loosen

NHTSA campaign 25V371000 · Reported 2025-06-03 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Losing front brake function is serious and raises the risk of a crash, so get this checked right away.

What's wrong, in plain English

On certain 2025 Explorers, the bolts that hold the front brake caliper in place may not have been tightened properly. The caliper is the part that squeezes the brake pads to slow the wheel. If those bolts loosen or fall out, you can lose front braking on that wheel, and the wheel itself may be damaged. Ford dealers will check the bolts and tighten them, or replace the caliper and pads if bolts are missing.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your Explorer is covered. 2. Contact a Ford dealer to have the caliper bolts inspected, or call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall number 25S60). 3. The inspection and any parts needed are free of charge.
