A loose child seat anchor bolt increases the risk of injury to a child during a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The bolts that hold the child seat anchors to the car body may not have been tightened enough at the factory, so they can work loose. Those anchors are what a child safety seat latches onto. If a bolt is loose, the child seat may not be held firmly during a crash and a child could be hurt. A dealer will inspect the anchor bolts and tighten any that need it, free of charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Forester is covered.
2. Call your Subaru dealer, or Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614, and mention recall WRC-25.
3. Have the anchor bolts inspected and tightened at no cost.
