Rivian EDV driver's seat belt tensioner cable may be damaged

NHTSA campaign 25V816000 · Reported 2025-11-25 · Rivian Automotive, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

This affects how well the driver is protected in a crash, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, so the van can stay in service while the inspection is arranged.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2022-2025 Rivian EDV delivery vans, the cable for the driver's seat belt tensioner can become damaged. The tensioner is the part that pulls the belt snug against you the instant a crash begins. If its cable is damaged, the belt may not hold the driver as firmly as it should in a crash. Rivian has already sent out an over-the-air software update, and dealers will inspect the driver's belt tensioner and replace it if needed.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm the van is included.
2. Make sure the van has received Rivian's over-the-air software update.
3. Contact Rivian service, or customer service at 1-888-748-4261 (recall FSAM-1770), for the free inspection and any needed replacement.
