A software problem can keep the backup camera picture from showing up on the dashboard screen when you shift into reverse. Without that image, you cannot see what is directly behind the car — a person or an object — so you are more likely to hit something while backing up. Audi says the vehicles do not meet the federal rear visibility rule. The dealer will update the software for free.
On certain 2022-2024 e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models, a section inside the large battery that powers the car can short out, which can cause a fire. The permanent fix is new monitoring software a dealer installs at no charge. Until that is available, Audi either watches your battery data remotely or has a dealer inspect it and replace battery sections if needed. Cars already repaired under the earlier recall still need this new repair.
The brake hoses at the front wheels of some 2022 through 2024 Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT cars can develop tears. A torn hose leaks brake fluid, and that knocks out part of the braking system. You may find the brake pedal sinking farther than usual and the car taking much longer to stop. Dealers will replace the front brake hoses free of charge. Owner letters were mailed in August 2024.
On some 2022-2024 Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT electric cars, the big battery that powers the car can short circuit inside one of its modules, and that can start a fire. Until the car is repaired, Audi says to charge it only up to 80 percent. At the dealer, technicians read the battery's data and replace any battery modules that need it, free of charge.
These Audis came with a portable charging cable that plugs into a 220/240-volt outlet, the kind used for a large appliance. At the 100% charge setting, the cable can draw more electricity than some home outlets can handle, and the outlet or the cable can get dangerously hot. Overheating like this can start a fire. Audi says to stop using that cable for now and charge with the 110-volt cable or at a public charging station until you receive a free replacement.
