Reported 2026-07-01 · Campaign 26V422000 · Model years: 2025
The integrated brake system in these vehicles can malfunction. When it does, you can lose the power assist that makes the brake pedal easy to press, so the pedal goes hard and the vehicle takes longer to stop. The fault can also stop the anti-lock brakes and the stability control from working, which can let you lose control of the vehicle. The dealer inspects the brake unit and replaces it if needed.

A part inside both front seat belt retractors — the spring-loaded reels that pull the belt snug — may have been damaged when these vehicles were built. The damaged piece is a torsion bar, which helps control how the belt holds you during a crash. The belts on the front seats may look and feel completely normal, but they may not hold a person properly if a crash happens. BMW will replace both front retractors.

On certain 2023-2024 BMW 228i and 228i xDrive cars and 2025 MINI Countryman S ALL4 models, the bolts that join the front body structure to the frame underneath may not have been tightened properly at the factory. That front structure is part of what absorbs and spreads out the force of a crash. If those bolts are loose, it may not protect the people inside as well as it should. A dealer checks the bolts and tightens them if needed.
Reported 2024-09-18 · Campaign 24V697000 · Model years: 2025
Welds inside a small motor in the brake control unit can break. If that happens, you lose power brake assist and the rear brakes stop working, so the pedal gets hard and the vehicle needs much more distance to stop. The anti-lock brakes and the stability control may also quit, which makes the vehicle harder to keep under control. Dealers will replace the whole brake unit for free.
