Jeep Cherokee fuel tube may leak into engine

NHTSA campaign 18V282000 · Reported 2018-05-01 · Chrysler (FCA US LLC)

critical How serious is it? About this label

Leaking gasoline near a hot engine can start a fire, so get the inspection immediately and stop driving and call for help if you smell fuel or see a leak.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2018 Jeep Cherokees with the 2.4-liter engine were built with a fuel tube that can leak gasoline into the engine compartment. The engine bay gets very hot and has electrical parts in it, so fuel leaking there can catch fire. A gasoline smell, wet spots under the hood, or fuel disappearing faster than normal are warning signs. Dealers inspect the fuel tube and replace it if needed, at no cost to you.
