Ford F-150, Expedition and Navigator Fuel Pump Can Leak

NHTSA campaign 18V392000 · Reported 2018-06-12 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

Serious: a fuel leak near an ignition source can start a fire, so get the repair done quickly, though the notice does not tell owners to stop driving or park outside.

What's wrong, in plain English

These trucks and SUVs use a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine with a high-pressure fuel pump. Welds holding that pump assembly together can crack. If a weld breaks, fuel or oil can leak out of the pump. Leaking fuel near a hot surface or a spark can catch fire. This is a parts problem, not something regular maintenance fixes, so the dealer replaces the high-pressure fuel pump and the related parts that go with it, free of charge.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included.
2. Call your Ford or Lincoln dealer and ask for recall 18S17, or contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
3. The dealer replaces the high-pressure fuel pump and associated parts at no cost to you.
