What's wrong, in plain English

The shiny chrome coating on the center console between the front seats can bubble up and flake off. Where it peels, it can leave sharp edges right where an arm, hand or leg rests. Anyone in the vehicle could get cut or scraped by them. Ford has already mailed an early letter warning owners, but the parts for the actual repair are not ready; they are expected around January 2027, when a second letter goes out.

Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the center consoles as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed June 16, 2026.
