Ford Expedition center console chrome can peel into sharp edges
low How serious is it? About this label
The mildest kind of recall — cuts and scrapes rather than a crash or fire risk — and nothing in the notice limits driving the vehicle.
What's wrong, in plain English
The shiny chrome coating on the center console between the front seats can bubble up and flake off. Where it peels, it can leave sharp edges right where an arm, hand or leg rests. Anyone in the vehicle could get cut or scraped by them. Ford has already mailed an early letter warning owners, but the parts for the actual repair are not ready; they are expected around January 2027, when a second letter goes out.
What you should do
2. Watch for the second letter once parts arrive, expected January 2027, or call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26S38).
3. Have the dealer inspect and, if needed, replace the center console — free of charge.
