Hyundai Santa Fe side airbags may be damaged
high How serious is it? About this label
This reduces how well the side airbags protect you in a crash, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, so schedule the free repair soon.
What's wrong, in plain English
Certain 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles have side curtain airbags, the ones that drop down along the windows to protect your head in a crash. The bolts that hold those airbags in place can get in the way as the airbag opens and tear or damage it. A damaged airbag may not fill with air properly, so it would not cushion you the way it should, and someone in the vehicle could be hurt worse in a crash.
What you should do
2. Contact a Hyundai dealer, or Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460, to set up service.
3. Have a protective cover installed over the airbag bolts, which is free of charge.
