What's wrong, in plain English

On certain 2017-2019 Lincoln Continental sedans, the small motors inside the door latches may not work right, so a door may not latch all the way even though it looks closed. A door that is not fully latched can swing open while you are driving, which can injure someone inside the car or anyone nearby. Ford is having dealers replace the latch assemblies on all four doors.

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your car is affected. 2. Contact your Lincoln dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 19S03) to schedule the work. 3. Have all four door latch assemblies replaced — free of charge.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Lincoln Continental vehicles. The door latch pawl motors may not function properly, possibly resulting in a door latch not fully engaging.
Safety risk
A door latch that is not fully engaged may result in a door opening while driving, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the latch assemblies on all four doors, free of charge. The recall began October 14, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S03.
