Toyota Supra driver seat belt mount may be weak

NHTSA campaign 19V653000 · Reported 2019-09-12 · BMW of North America, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious in a crash — the driver's seat belt may not restrain them properly, though the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2020 Toyota Supra cars, the mount that holds the loop guiding the driver's seat belt over the shoulder may have been welded improperly. In a crash, that mount could be damaged and the seat belt might not hold the driver in place the way it should, which could lead to more serious injury. Toyota dealers will inspect the mount, and if it is defective the vehicle will be replaced free of charge.

What you should do

2. Contact your Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 (recall K0R).
3. Have the seat belt guide loop mount inspected — any needed remedy is free.
