Toyota seat belt recalls: which seats and belts are affected
These six recalls are all factory defects that only matter in a crash, and they cluster in the back seats. Toyota replaced outboard second-row belt assemblies on the 2022 Sienna after an incorrect webbing guide, replaced damaged second-row center webbing on the 2025 Camry Hybrid and several Lexus models, and reinstalled a misaligned third-row center anchor on the 2024-2025 Highlander. Rear dual-mode locking retractors that may not lock hit the 2019-2020 C-HR and 2020 Corolla and Corolla Hybrid. Two more come from BMW, which builds the Supra: a poorly welded driver's belt guide loop mount on the 2020 car and faulty retractors on 2021 models. Center and second-row seats dominate the list.
Warning signs to watch for
- A rear belt that does not lock when you tug it sharply, on the C-HR and Corolla dual-mode retractors
- Visible damage to the second-row center belt webbing on the 2025 Camry Hybrid
- A third-row center belt anchor that looks installed at the wrong angle on the 2024-2025 Highlander
- For the Supra guide loop weld, the Supra retractors and the Sienna webbing guide, there is no sign an owner can see — the defect shows up only in a crash
Is it safe to keep driving?
No seat belt recall here tells owners to stop driving or park outside, and none affects how the vehicle drives. The belts still work in normal use; the risk appears in a crash. Toyota's own notices suggest keeping the third-row center seat of a 2024-2025 Highlander and the rear center seat of a 2025 Camry Hybrid empty until they are inspected. For the Sienna, C-HR, Corolla and Supra recalls you can keep driving normally, but schedule the free repair.
What the free repair involves
All repairs are free. Dealers inspect and replace belt assemblies rather than repair them: new outboard second-row belts on the Sienna, replacement of damaged second-row center webbing on the Camry Hybrid after inspection, new rear belt assemblies on C-HR and Corolla where production dates match, and replaced retractors on the 2021 Supra. The Highlander anchor is reinstalled with a new bolt; a defective Supra guide loop mount means vehicle replacement.

Common questions
Can anyone ride in the affected seat before the repair?
Toyota does not ban it, but the notices point the other way for the worst cases. Avoid the third-row center seat of a 2024-2025 Highlander and the rear center seat of a 2025 Camry Hybrid until a dealer inspects them.
Will the dealer replace my seat belt or just look at it?
Several of these start as an inspection. The Camry Hybrid webbing, the C-HR and Corolla rear assemblies, and the 2021 Supra retractors are replaced only if the inspection finds the defect. The Sienna second-row belts are replaced outright.
How would I even know my belt is defective?
Usually you would not. Only the dual-mode locking fault on C-HR and Corolla and the damaged Camry Hybrid webbing might be noticeable. The weld, webbing guide and anchor-angle defects are invisible in daily use and matter only during a crash.
