BMW, MINI, Toyota Supra passenger seat belt retractor fault
medium How serious is it? About this label
During a crash, a seat belt retractor that does not function as intended increases the risk of injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
The passenger seat belt has a locking mode that clamps the belt tight so it cannot loosen. On these cars that lock can switch off too early, before the belt has pulled all the way in. The belt then may not hold as it should in a crash, raising the chance of injury. The dealer will inspect the belts and retractors and replace them if needed, at no cost.
