Ford Mustang and Expedition park warning too short
medium How serious is it? About this label
A vehicle that rolls away after you step out can injure someone or cause a crash; there is no instruction to stop driving, and you can lower the risk by always making sure the shifter is in park before getting out.
What's wrong, in plain English
Ford is recalling certain 2019 Expedition and 2019-2020 Mustang vehicles. When the transmission is not in park, the car is supposed to show a "Transmission Not In Park" message and sound a chime to warn you. On these vehicles that message and chime do not last as long as they should, so a driver may not notice them. If you get out without shifting into park, the vehicle can roll on its own. Dealers will reprogram the instrument cluster for free.
What you should do
2. Contact your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and reference recall 20S21.
3. Have the instrument cluster reprogrammed - the repair is free.
