Volvo S60 and V60 front seat belts may fail

NHTSA campaign 20V378000 · Reported 2020-06-30 · Volvo Car USA LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious, since a front seat belt may not protect you in a crash; Volvo does not tell owners to stop driving, so keep wearing your belt and book the free repair soon.

What's wrong, in plain English

A flexible steel cable anchors each front seat belt to the seat. Over years of use that cable can weaken and fail. If it does, the belt will not hold you in place in a crash, even though it may look and feel normal when you buckle up. Anyone in a front seat is at greater risk of injury. Volvo dealers replace the anchor cable on both front seats at no charge.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Volvo is covered.
2. Contact a Volvo dealer or Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552 and mention recall R10029.
3. Have the dealer replace both front seat belt anchor cables — free of charge.
