Serious: a sudden flat or a tread coming apart at speed can cause you to lose control of the vehicle, so even though Ford has not told owners to stop driving, get the tires inspected promptly.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some of the Continental tires on these vehicles were cured, or baked, for too long when they were made. An over-cured tire can break open at the sidewall and lose air all at once, or the tread can start separating and peel off the tire. Either one can make the vehicle hard to control. Only some tires are affected, so the dealer will look at the tires on your vehicle and replace any bad ones at no charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your vehicle is included in campaign 21V155000.
2. Call your Ford dealer to have the tires inspected, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall number 21S10).
3. Any affected tires will be replaced free of charge.

Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 F-150, 2018-2020 F-250, F-350, and 2019 Escape vehicles equipped with Continental tires. On the affected vehicles, it is possible that one or more tires were cured for too long during tire production.
Safety risk: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S10.
