Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Escalade, Yukon fuel pump can stall engine

NHTSA campaign 21V739000 · Reported 2021-09-23 · General Motors, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious — an unexpected engine stall increases the risk of a crash, so have it done soon, though the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

A control module that runs the fuel pump can fail or work only part of the time. When it does, fuel stops flowing steadily to the engine and the engine can quit without warning while you are driving. Losing the engine in traffic makes a crash more likely. Dealers will replace the fuel pump control module at no charge. Owner letters went out back in October 2021, so if you bought the vehicle used, the repair may still be waiting.
