Ford Super Duty diesel fuel filter cap can leak

NHTSA campaign 22V013000 · Reported 2022-01-14 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

Very serious — a fuel leak near an ignition source can cause a fire or injury; Ford has not issued a park-it or park-outside warning, but treat any fuel smell as urgent and get this repaired immediately.

What's wrong, in plain English

These trucks have a 6.7-liter diesel engine. The cap on the secondary fuel filter under the hood may have a tiny void at its top center. Over time that weak spot can turn into a pinhole, letting diesel fuel leak out of the top of the filter. Fuel leaking near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. Dealers will replace both the primary and secondary fuel filters at no charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is included. 2. Contact your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and reference recall 22S01. 3. Have both the primary and secondary fuel filters replaced — the repair is free.
