Kia Sorento and Telluride may have wrong spare tire

NHTSA campaign 22V509000 · Reported 2022-07-19 · Kia Motors America

medium How serious is it? About this label

Impaired anti-lock braking or traction control systems can increase the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2022 Kia Sorento and Telluride vehicles left the factory with the wrong spare tire. If you put that spare on the vehicle, it can interfere with the anti-lock brakes and the traction control — the systems that keep your wheels from locking up when you brake hard or spinning when you accelerate. With those systems not working properly, the vehicle is harder to control. Dealers will check the spare tire and replace it if it is the wrong one.

3. Have the spare tire inspected and replaced if necessary — it is free.
