Kia Telluride second-row side airbags may not deploy

NHTSA campaign 23V035000 · Reported 2023-01-29 · Kia America, Inc.

high How serious is it? About this label

Airbags that fail to deploy raise the risk of injury in a crash, and while the notice does not tell you to stop driving, get this fixed quickly if you carry passengers in the second row.

What's wrong, in plain English

A manufacturing mistake can damage the wiring that runs to the side airbags for the second-row seats. If that wiring is damaged, those airbags may not go off in a crash, leaving second-row passengers without the protection they are supposed to have. A Kia dealer will inspect the airbag wiring and either replace it or fasten it down properly, free of charge. Kia mailed owner notification letters on February 28, 2023.
