BMW iX and X1 driver airbag may not deploy
high How serious is it? About this label
This is serious because you would only find out the airbag does not work during a crash, but the notice does not say to stop driving the vehicle.
What's wrong, in plain English
BMW is recalling certain 2022-2023 iX xDrive40, iX xDrive50, iX M60 and X1 xDrive28i vehicles. The airbag directly in front of the driver may have been built incorrectly at the factory. Because of that mistake, it may not inflate the way it is supposed to during a crash, leaving the driver with less protection than expected. Nothing on the dashboard warns you about this. Dealers will replace the driver's airbag at no charge.
What you should do
2. Contact your BMW dealer, or BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, to schedule the repair.
3. Have the driver's airbag replaced; the work is free.
