Ford Bronco and Ranger wheels may have loose lug nuts

NHTSA campaign 23V283000 · Reported 2023-04-20 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

Very serious — a wheel could come off while driving, so do not drive the vehicle until a dealer has inspected it.

⚠ NHTSA advises not driving this vehicle until it is repaired. See all such recalls.

What's wrong, in plain English

The nuts that hold the wheels onto the driver's side of your truck may not have been tightened properly at the factory. If they are loose, a wheel can come off while you are driving. Ford is telling owners not to drive these vehicles until they are checked. A dealer will look at the lug nuts and tighten them if needed, at no charge to you.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your truck is affected. 2. Do not drive it; contact your Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 23S17) to set up the inspection. 3. Have the dealer inspect and retighten the lug nuts — the work is free.
