Ford Bronco may lose power or roll away

NHTSA campaign 26V236000 · Reported 2026-04-14 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

This is serious because losing drive power or having the vehicle roll away can cause a crash, but the notice does not instruct owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Ford is recalling certain 2021-2025 Bronco vehicles. Where the transmission meets the transfer case, the gearbox that sends power to the wheels, the two parts may be lined up wrong because an earlier repair was done incorrectly. The grooved teeth that connect them can wear down over time. If they wear enough, the Bronco can lose drive power or roll away on its own. Dealers will inspect the joint and replace parts as needed.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, where affected Broncos became searchable on April 15, 2026, under recall 26S26.
2. Contact your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, to arrange the inspection.
3. Have the transmission and transfer case replaced if needed, free of charge.
