Ford Bronco child safety lock may not hold rear door

NHTSA campaign 24V189000 · Reported 2024-03-08 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

A malfunctioning child safety lock that allows a rear door to be opened unintentionally can increase the risk of injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2023 and 2024 four-door Ford Bronco vehicles have a problem with the child safety lock on the rear door behind the driver. Even with that lock switched on, someone sitting in the back seat can still open the door from inside. That means a child could push the door open while the vehicle is moving. Dealers will check the child safety locks and replace the rear door latch if it is faulty.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Bronco is covered. 2. Until it is fixed, avoid seating a child behind the driver, or keep a close watch on that door. 3. Contact your Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 about recall 24S15 — the inspection and any new latch are free.
