Genesis G70, G80 and G90 turbo oil leak fire risk

NHTSA campaign 24V191000 · Reported 2024-03-08 · Hyundai Motor America

critical How serious is it? About this label

Very serious, because this is an engine fire risk; the notice does not tell owners to park the vehicle, but have the pipe replaced right away.

What's wrong, in plain English

Cars with the 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 have a small pipe that feeds oil to the left turbocharger. That pipe can break down over time and leak. Oil dripping onto hot engine parts can catch fire under the hood. Dealers will replace the pipe free of charge. This recall replaces an earlier one (19V-538), so even if your car was repaired under that recall, it still needs the new repair.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your car is included (Hyundai's recall number is 019G).
2. Call your Genesis dealer or Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 to schedule the repair, even if you had the 2019 recall done.
3. Have the left turbocharger oil feed pipe replaced. The repair is free.
