Jeep Cherokee right curtain airbag connector not properly secured
medium How serious is it? About this label
It only matters in a side crash, but an airbag that does not deploy raises the chance of injury; the notice does not ask owners to park, and Chrysler says all affected vehicles have already been repaired.
What's wrong, in plain English
The plug that connects the right-side curtain airbag was not pushed in and secured properly. That is the bag which drops down over the right-side windows in a side crash or rollover. With a loose connection, the airbag may not go off when it is needed. Because of this the vehicles do not meet the federal rules for side impact protection and for keeping people from being thrown out. A dealer secures the connector at no charge.
