What's wrong, in plain English

The metal catches that your doors latch onto — one on each of the four side doors — were not heat-treated correctly at the factory, so they can break. If one breaks, that door can pop open on its own, including while the vehicle is moving. Someone could fall out or be hit by the swinging door. Every affected vehicle is still sitting on a dealer lot, so no owner letters are being sent.

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls if you recently bought one of these vehicles. 2. Call Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (GM recall N242477131) or your dealer. 3. The dealer will replace all four door strikers and their bolts free of charge.
