Cadillac XT4 dashboard may block passenger airbag from deploying

NHTSA campaign 24V795000 · Reported 2024-10-24 · General Motors, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

GM has not told owners to stop driving, but a passenger airbag that cannot deploy properly means a higher risk of injury for whoever is riding up front in a crash.

What's wrong, in plain English

The passenger airbag sits under the dashboard and is designed to burst through a thin, pre-scored seam in the dash cover when it inflates. On these XT4s, that seam may be missing from the underside of the cover. Without it, the passenger airbag may not open the way it is supposed to in a crash, so a front-seat passenger may not get the protection they should. Dealers replace the upper dashboard cover.
