What's wrong, in plain English

Your vehicle watches tire pressure and turns on a dashboard light when a tire is low. On these vehicles, that light may not stay on the next time you start the car, even though the tire is still low. You could keep driving on a soft tire without knowing it, and a poorly inflated tire handles badly and is more likely to fail. Tesla has already released a free software update that is sent to the car over the internet.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included.
2. Make sure your car has installed the over-the-air software update; check your tire pressures by hand in the meantime.
3. If the update has not arrived, call Tesla at 1-877-798-3752 (recall SB-24-00-018) — the fix is free.

Summary
Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles. The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light may not remain illuminated between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."
Safety risk
Driving with improperly inflated tires increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Tesla released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 15, 2025. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-018. (over-the-air software update)
