Honda Pilot third-row seat belt trapped behind side panel

NHTSA campaign 25V056000 · Reported 2025-02-05 · Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

medium How serious is it? About this label

A non-functioning seat belt cannot properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2025 Honda Pilots, the passenger-side seat belt in the third row was routed the wrong way at the factory, so the belt gets caught behind the plastic side panel next to the seat. When that happens, the belt will not pull out and latch the way it should, and whoever sits there cannot buckle up properly. In a crash, that passenger would not be held in place. Dealers will inspect the belt and route it correctly.
