26 recalls covering model years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — a recall may apply only to some vehicles of a given year.
These vehicles were sold in states that salt the roads in winter. The rear subframe, the metal frame that holds the rear suspension to the body, can rust badly where the suspension bolts onto it. If it rusts through, a rear suspension part such as a control arm can come loose. The back of the vehicle can then wander or slide and you could lose control. Honda's full repair is not ready yet and is expected in fall 2026.
A sensor under the front passenger seat measures the weight of whoever is sitting there so the car knows how to use the airbags. That sensor can crack and short out. If it does, the airbags can go off in an unintended way during a crash, which can hurt the people inside. This recall covers a long list of Honda and Acura models and expands an earlier recall. Dealers will put in new seat weight sensors.
The fasteners holding the driver's seat cushion frame may not have been tightened enough at the factory, so the driver's seat can be loose. A seat that is not solidly attached may not hold the driver in place in a crash, which means a higher chance of injury. The vehicles also do not meet the federal safety rule for seating systems. Dealers will replace the driver's seat cushion frame at no charge.
The brake pedal in these Acura and Honda models is held in place by a small pin, and that pin was not fastened correctly at the factory. Over time the pedal can slip out of its normal position. If that happens, pressing the pedal may not slow or stop the vehicle the way you expect. Honda also says the affected vehicles do not meet federal rules for brake systems and for lamps and reflectors.
On some 2025 Honda Pilots, the passenger-side seat belt in the third row was routed the wrong way at the factory, so the belt gets caught behind the plastic side panel next to the seat. When that happens, the belt will not pull out and latch the way it should, and whoever sits there cannot buckle up properly. In a crash, that passenger would not be held in place. Dealers will inspect the belt and route it correctly.
The computer that controls how fuel is fed to the engine has a software bug on these Acura and Honda models. Because of it, the engine can stall or suddenly lose power while you are driving. Losing power in traffic or on the highway raises the risk of a crash. The dealer will reload corrected software into that computer at no charge; owner letters were mailed in March 2025.
The pipe you put gas into connects to a neck tube on the fuel tank. On these Passports and Pilots, those two pieces can come apart, and gasoline can leak out. Leaking fuel near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. Dealers will inspect the parts and repair them if needed, free of charge. Letters went to owners in January 2025, so many of these vehicles may already be fixed. If you smell gas, get it checked right away.
On certain Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Pilot and HR-V vehicles and Acura Integra models, the driver's seat cushion frame may not have been tightened properly when the car was built. That can leave the driver's seat not firmly secured to the floor. These vehicles do not meet the federal safety standard for seating systems. Dealers will replace the driver's seat cushion frame at no cost to the owner.
There is a sensor in the front passenger seat that senses the weight of whoever is sitting there. It tells the vehicle whether to turn the passenger airbag off — for example when the seat is empty or a small person is in it. On these vehicles the sensor can crack and short out, so the airbag may not switch off when it should. It could then go off in a crash when it was supposed to stay shut. Dealers replace the sensor free.
The fuel pump sits inside the gas tank and sends fuel to the engine. On these vehicles that pump can fail. When it does, the engine can stall while you are driving — losing power in traffic or on the highway raises the chance of a crash. A dealer will replace the entire fuel pump unit for free. This recall is an expansion of two earlier Honda fuel pump recalls covering additional vehicles.
A manufacturing mistake means a bearing inside the engine — part of what lets the engine's moving pieces spin smoothly — can wear down and seize up. That damages the engine, which may then run roughly or stall while you are driving. A stalled engine in traffic can lead to a crash, and the damage can also lead to a fire. Dealers will inspect the engine and repair it, or replace it entirely if that is what it needs.
Because of a mistake during manufacturing, the steering gear box on some Pilots can contain a loose ball bearing. That loose part can cause you to lose steering control, or it can make the steering lock up so the wheel will not turn. This can happen while you are driving, without warning. A dealer will replace the entire electric power steering rack with a new one, at no cost to you.
A fastener that connects the brake pedal booster to the brake master cylinder may have been put together wrong at the factory. If it fails, the master cylinder can separate from the booster and you could lose the ability to stop the vehicle. A dealer will inspect the brake booster assembly and repair it if needed at no cost. Honda mailed owner letters on August 7, 2023, so the repair is available now.
When you shift into reverse, a camera is supposed to show what is behind you on the dashboard screen. In these vehicles, a connector on the cable that carries the camera picture can go bad, so the screen may show nothing at all. Without that view, it is easier to miss a child, a pet, or an object behind you while backing up. The dealer will replace the cable and add a cover that holds the connector straight.
The glass in both outside mirrors has a small heating pad glued behind it to clear fog and frost. On these vehicles the glue may not hold properly, so the mirror glass can come loose and fall off, including while you are driving. Without a side mirror you cannot see traffic beside and behind you, which makes changing lanes and merging much riskier. The dealer will replace both the left and right outside mirrors for free.
On certain Honda Passport, Pilot and Ridgeline vehicles, the metal catch on the hood, the piece the latch grabs onto, can become damaged and separate from the hood. If that happens, the hood is no longer held down and can fly up while you are driving. With the hood in the way you cannot see the road ahead, which can easily lead to a crash. Dealers will repair the catch or replace the entire hood if it is too damaged.
The pump that pushes gasoline out of the fuel tank toward the engine sits inside the tank, and on these Honda and Acura vehicles it can stop working. When it fails, the engine can stall, meaning it shuts off while you are driving, and that can happen at any speed. Your dealer will replace the whole fuel pump assembly at no cost to you. This recall is a larger version of an earlier Honda recall, 20V-314.
Some of these Passports and Pilots left the factory with Continental tires that were heated too long while they were being made. Tires cooked that way can crack in the sidewall or come apart inside. That can mean a tire suddenly goes flat, or the tread peels off the tire while you are driving, either of which can make the vehicle very hard to control. A dealer will look at all four tires and replace any bad ones at no cost.
Some Pilots left the factory with Continental tires that were heated too long when they were made. A tire like that can break open in the sidewall and lose air all at once, or lose its tread. Either one can make you lose control of the vehicle. Only tires with one particular date and mold code are involved, so the dealer will check all four tires and replace only the ones that match, free.
A software error in the module that runs the dashboard can make the display go blank or leave out important information. You may lose the speedometer, the oil pressure warning, and the indicator showing which gear the car is in, and the backup camera picture may not appear. The information comes back the next time you start the car. A dealer reprograms the software to fix it.
Software in the vehicle's main computer network was programmed incorrectly, so the backup camera picture can be slow to appear or may not appear at all when you shift into reverse. Without that view you can miss a child, a pedestrian, or an object directly behind the vehicle. Honda will mail instructions so you can download and install the update yourself for free, or a dealer will do it for you at no charge.
The certification sticker on these vehicles was printed with ink that can wipe off if it comes into contact with a solvent or cleaner. That sticker lists how much weight the vehicle and each axle can safely carry. If those numbers rub away, you have no way to check the limits and could load the vehicle too heavily without knowing it. Dealers will put on a new label at no charge.
The upper frame members at the front of the vehicle may not have been fully welded to the body when the vehicle was built. Those welds help absorb and spread out the force of a front-end crash, so a vehicle missing them may not protect the people inside as well as it should. A dealer will inspect your vehicle for missing welds free of charge. If welds are missing, Honda will offer to buy the vehicle back or give you a similar replacement vehicle.
Your vehicle's timing belt is a toothed rubber belt that keeps the engine's internal parts turning in step. On these vehicles, the teeth can break off the belt. If that happens, the engine can shut off while you are driving, and the belt failure can also damage other engine parts. Dealers will check the belt and replace it at no cost, and will also inspect the engine and replace anything that was damaged.
The plastic trim on the roof pillar beside the front passenger seat is held on by a clip. On these vehicles the holes for that clip may be too big, so the clip may not hold the trim in place. In a side crash, the loose panel could get in the way of the curtain airbag that drops down from the roof to protect your head. Dealers add a bracket that holds the clip securely.
The power front seats in these vehicles were put together with rivets that were not made correctly. Those rivets hold the seat frame to the floor. In a crash, the rivets can break and the seat may come loose instead of staying anchored down. In the Pilot and Ridgeline it is both front seats; in the MDX it is the driver's seat. Honda says the seats and seat belt anchors do not meet federal safety rules.
