Losing drive power in traffic can cause a crash, so this is a serious one; the notice does not tell owners to park the vehicle, but get it in to a dealer soon.

What's wrong, in plain English

These electric vehicles have a part called the on-board charger that keeps the small 12-volt battery topped up. That battery runs the car's basic electronics. If the charger fails, the 12-volt battery stops being charged, and the vehicle can lose drive power — meaning it may stop pulling and coast to a stop, possibly in traffic. The dealer will replace the on-board charger free of charge.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is affected.
2. Call your dealer about recall 93CJ (Volkswagen, 1-800-893-5298) or 93FR (Audi, 1-800-253-2834).
3. Have the on-board charger replaced — it costs you nothing.

Summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2024-2025 AUDI Q4 E-Tron SUV, AUDI Q4 E-Tron Sportback, and 2024 ID.4 vehicles. The on-board charger (OCDC) may fail and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Safety risk
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the OCDC, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 20, 2025. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 93CJ. Audi's number for this recall is 93FR.
